Ripple unlocks 1 billion XRP as price holds steady at $1.25

Two automated transfers totaling 1 billion XRP hit the market on November 1, triggering a wave of social media speculation despite the move aligning perfectly with Ripple’s long-standing monthly escrow schedule. The tokens, valued at approximately $1.25 billion, moved from locked contracts into company-controlled wallets without immediate market disruption.

Blockchain trackers KKapon and XRP Live confirmed the release originated from Ripple’s escrow wallets, identified as Ripple 10 and Ripple 11. Each wallet processed 500 million tokens at 00:00:02 UTC. While the volume is significant, it mirrors the mechanism Ripple established in December 2017 to manage supply liquidity. The company typically returns a portion of these releases to new, time-locked contracts, a process that saw 700 million XRP re-locked during both September and October.

As of 10:50 UTC on November 1, no new escrow contracts had been initiated for the November batch, leaving the net supply change unsettled. Historically, these releases do not equate to sales or distribution; tokens often remain in Ripple’s internal wallets. Market reaction remained muted, with XRP trading near $1.25—a marginal 0.08% uptick over 24 hours. Analyst Xaif Crypto noted a potential shift in buying pressure, though cautioned that current data remains insufficient to confirm a long-term trend reversal following the token's 18.52% decline over the previous month.
