Robinhood Chain trading volume slides as investor patience wears thin

Conflict: A 23.1% weekly drop in decentralized exchange volume on Robinhood Chain has ignited a sharp debate between market participants expecting rapid growth and long-term observers who argue the platform is still in its infancy. While deposits hold steady, the network’s slipping market position has drawn pointed criticism from vocal traders.

Robinhood Chain trading volume slides as investor patience wears thin

Weekly DEX volume for the platform fell to $5.255 billion, trailing behind competitors like Solana, BNB Chain, and Base. According to data tracked by DJ Griffith, the network’s seven-day average daily volume sits at $820 million—lagging behind Base by $20 million per day. This reversal follows a peak in early September, prompting calls for CEO Vlad Tenev to address the perceived loss of momentum.

Despite the decline in active trading, the network retains $1.132 billion in total value locked, with stablecoin capitalization reaching $1.05 billion. Proponents of the chain, such as commentator SimpleFarmer, argue that speculative day-to-day metrics fail to capture the reality of building complex financial infrastructure, noting that institutional-grade products like tokenized-stock borrowing via Morpho require longer development cycles than typical crypto projects. Critics, however, maintain that the current ecosystem output remains uninspired and fails to leverage the brand's potential.
