NFT Market Volume Surges to $95.5M as Pandora Distorts Data

The NFT market reported $95.48 million in weekly sales, marking a 170% increase that masks a more fragmented reality. A single $55.03 million transaction tied to the experimental Pandora project accounted for the majority of this growth, decoupling the headline figure from broader trends in digital collectibles.

NFT Market Volume Surges to $95.5M as Pandora Distorts Data

While CryptoSlam data shows a sharp rise in dollar volume, the underlying activity remains concentrated. Excluding the Pandora transaction, the rest of the market generated approximately $40.28 million, suggesting that organic demand across the ecosystem did not experience a proportional spike. Transaction counts grew by only 7.5% to 962,992, resulting in an average transaction value of $99, up from $39 in the previous period.

Ethereum remains the dominant blockchain, capturing $70.81 million in sales—roughly 74% of the global total. However, Pandora alone contributed $55.21 million to that sum, representing about 78% of the network's volume. This reliance on a single asset highlights the volatility of current NFT metrics, especially as Pandora utilizes the ERC-404 model, which blends fungible token liquidity with non-fungible asset structures. Because these hybrid assets function differently than traditional artwork or profile pictures, their inclusion in standard volume rankings can skew interpretations of market health.

Other networks showed mixed results. Polygon followed with $10.91 million in sales, despite a 9.5% decline, while Base saw a 107% increase to $4.59 million. Solana and Immutable recorded lower volumes compared to the previous week, even as their user participation metrics—measured by buyer addresses—remained robust. The data suggests that while the broader cryptocurrency market is rebounding, the NFT sector's recovery is currently defined more by high-value outlier events than by a uniform surge in retail demand.
