Plume Joins DTCC Tokenization Working Group

Plume has secured a seat in the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group, aligning itself with major financial institutions including Nasdaq, Charles Schwab, and Alpaca as the organization prepares for an October 2026 service launch.

Plume Joins DTCC Tokenization Working Group

The working group serves as a collaborative forum for banks, custodians, and blockchain firms to refine the operating standards for tokenizing traditional securities. Membership offers Plume a role in providing industry feedback, though the company has not secured a confirmed commercial integration or a commitment from DTCC to support its specific blockchain network. The group has grown rapidly, expanding from 50 participants in May to over 100 members by mid-July.

This development follows a series of production trades conducted by the DTCC in July, which tested workflows for Treasuries, equities, and collateral across the Besu and Canton networks. While Plume was not listed as a participant in those initial tests, its inclusion signals a broader attempt to integrate its onchain compliance infrastructure with legacy market systems. Plume operates under the framework of Kimber Transfer Agency, a wholly-owned subsidiary registered with the SEC, which allows the network to maintain official ownership records for tokenized funds.

As the October launch approaches, the DTCC continues to build a multichain environment, with plans to connect its tokenization service to the Stellar network by the first half of 2027. The project currently operates under a three-year SEC no-action letter, focusing on assets such as Russell 1000 shares and U.S. Treasury securities. For now, Plume’s involvement remains advisory, with future impact contingent upon regulatory shifts and the adoption of tokenized assets by institutional issuers.
