Strategy to Fund Employee 'Trump Accounts' for Children

Strategy is expanding its corporate benefits by committing $250 in annual contributions to Trump Accounts for the children of its U.S. employees. The initiative, announced during the company’s quarterly meeting, aims to bolster long-term financial savings for families while aligning with the broader federal push for child investment accounts.

The company’s pledge includes a one-time $1,000 contribution for children born on or after January 1, 2025, mirroring the initial deposit offered through the federal government’s pilot program. CEO Phong Le noted that these contributions are intended to promote financial education and provide children with a stable source of long-term capital. The recurring $250 annual benefit will apply to all eligible children under 18, regardless of their birth year.

Trump Accounts, formally designated as Section 530A accounts, function as tax-deferred vehicles designed to invest in low-fee funds tracking U.S. equities. While the government provides a seed payment for children born between 2025 and 2028, Strategy’s model allows for broader participation among the families of its workforce. The company joins other major firms, including Coinbase and Goldman Sachs, in pledging support for the initiative.

Actual implementation of the program remains contingent on the Treasury and IRS finalizing regulatory guidance. Once the necessary payroll and custodial infrastructure is established, Strategy will provide enrollment details to its staff. Meanwhile, the company continues to manage its massive Bitcoin treasury, recently reporting holdings of 842,138 BTC following a series of divestments used to fund preferred stock dividends and share repurchases.
