Circle Sets September 16 Launch for Arc Blockchain

Circle will open its Arc blockchain to the public mainnet on September 16, backed by a roster of global financial heavyweights including BlackRock, Mastercard, and Visa. These institutions will serve as founding validators, shifting the network from its current private testing phase to a production-ready institutional environment.

Circle Sets September 16 Launch for Arc Blockchain

The launch marks a strategic pivot for Circle, which has spent the year positioning Arc as a purpose-built rail for institutional finance. By enlisting companies like DTCC, Standard Chartered, and MoneyGram as validators, the firm aims to satisfy the rigorous compliance and security standards required for traditional financial infrastructure. Unlike networks that rely on independent operators, Arc’s governance model centers on the very institutions actively building and transacting on the chain.

Integration plans are already underway. BlackRock intends to deploy its BUIDL tokenized money market fund directly on the network, leveraging native USDC for subscription and redemption. Meanwhile, the DTCC is targeting a 2027 window to integrate its tokenized assets with Arc, a move intended to accelerate settlement times and reduce operational friction. Alongside these deployments, Circle is rolling out a suite of developer tools, including an AI-assisted framework and confidential smart contract engines designed for corporate treasury and payroll workflows. With over 100 ecosystem participants—ranging from DeFi protocols like Uniswap to custodial providers like Fireblocks—the platform enters the public market with significant pre-existing liquidity and infrastructure support.
