Polymarket Eyes $20 Billion Valuation in New Funding Round

Polymarket has entered preliminary discussions with investors to raise roughly $1 billion, a move that would push the prediction market’s valuation past the $20 billion threshold. The talks, first reported by Bloomberg, signal an aggressive expansion strategy as the firm navigates a complex regulatory landscape and stiff competition.

Polymarket Eyes $20 Billion Valuation in New Funding Round

The proposed financing follows a period of rapid growth for the platform, which has seen its annualized revenue climb above $1.2 billion since April. If successful, the round would place Polymarket in direct valuation territory with its primary rival, Kalshi, which secured a $22 billion valuation earlier this year. Despite these ambitious targets, the deal remains in the early stages; no final term sheets or investor lists have been confirmed, and company spokespeople have declined to comment on the figures.

Polymarket’s path to this valuation is bolstered by its recent reentry into the United States via its QCX-backed platform. While the firm holds a federal designation from the CFTC, it faces ongoing friction at the state level, including a civil complaint from the Nevada Gaming Control Board over event-based contracts. Investors appear to be weighing the company’s international crypto-settlement infrastructure and strategic ties to the Intercontinental Exchange against the potential costs of these legal and regulatory hurdles. As the industry shifts from niche election betting toward sports and economic events, the ability to maintain consistent volume remains a critical metric for justifying such high private market premiums.
