The Denver-based giant reported net income of $2.2 billion, or $2.06 per diluted share, on revenue of $6.1 billion. This performance surpassed the consensus estimate of $1.98 per share, underscoring the resilience of a portfolio that produced approximately 1.3 million attributable gold ounces. CEO Natascha Viljoen attributed the success to a robust balance sheet and a disciplined capital allocation strategy, which allowed the firm to return $1.9 billion to shareholders through dividends and aggressive share repurchases.
Despite the sharp price correction, Newmont realized a historically elevated gold price of $4,414 per ounce. Operational hurdles, including seismic events at the Cadia mine in Australia, nudged all-in sustaining costs to $1,621 per ounce. However, the company confirmed that year-to-date costs remain within its projected range. Operations at Cadia returned to normal levels by mid-June, and the firm maintains its full-year 2026 guidance of 5.26 million ounces, with production expected to lean toward the second half of the year.
