XRP Ledger Nears Upgrade Threshold as Validator Adoption Hits 55%

With over 55% of trusted validators now running the xrpld v3.2.0 software, the XRP Ledger is edging toward a significant network upgrade. While the transition marks a major infrastructure shift, including the official rebranding of the core server software, the protocol must still secure broader consensus to finalize its latest security-focused amendment.

XRP Ledger Nears Upgrade Threshold as Validator Adoption Hits 55%

As of the latest network data, 84 trusted validators have migrated to the v3.2.0 release, representing 55.63% of the validator set. Under the XRP Ledger’s governance framework, protocol amendments require sustained support from more than 80% of these trusted nodes for two consecutive weeks to trigger activation. Consequently, roughly a quarter of the remaining validator base must transition to the new version for the changes to take effect.

The update, which officially renames the network’s server software from rippled to xrpld, introduces structural adjustments to configuration paths, metadata, and database directories. Alongside these changes, the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment aims to bolster ledger consistency by preventing deleted accounts from leaving residual data. It also includes security fixes for the Lending Protocol, Multi-Purpose Tokens, and decentralized exchange features. Despite Ripple’s public backing and a successful independent audit of the Lending Protocol, the amendment currently holds only 40% support.

While adoption grows, some operators are reporting migration friction. GitHub issue #7581 highlights a configuration discrepancy where servers occasionally retain old public keys despite the installation of the new software. Developers are actively monitoring these reports, urging administrators to carefully update their deployment scripts to avoid service inconsistencies as the network moves toward the required supermajority.
