Standard Asset Company Launches $1.5 Billion Bitcoin-Property Strategy

A $1.5 billion investment strategy has emerged from Abu Dhabi, linking a phased Bitcoin reserve with high-end UAE hospitality and real estate projects. Backed by a member of the Dubai royal family and managed by Coinbase, the initiative positions digital assets as a foundational pillar for local property development.

Standard Asset Company Launches $1.5 Billion Bitcoin-Property Strategy

Standard Asset Company (SAC), headquartered in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, will utilize Coinbase Asset Management as the exclusive custodian for its Bitcoin holdings. The firm’s strategy focuses on building a long-term reserve through incremental purchases, leveraging market liquidity to time entries. Proceeds from this digital strategy are earmarked to fund branded residences and hospitality assets across the Emirates.

The venture draws significant institutional weight, featuring an advisory board that includes former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Coinbase Institutional co-CEO Brett Tejpaul, and British peer Lord Iain McNicol. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, representing Dubai’s royal family, serves as both a shareholder and adviser. While the firm has disclosed its operational framework, it clarified that it is not a licensed financial services provider for third parties, operating strictly as a proprietary investment entity.

This move aligns with a broader trend of institutional crypto-integration in the UAE. Standard Chartered recently enabled direct cryptocurrency trading for wealthy clients, while developers like RAK Properties have begun accepting digital assets for real estate transactions through regulated payment processors. SAC’s model underscores a shift toward using crypto-backed capital as a direct bridge to physical infrastructure development.
