Blackstone and Warburg Pincus Weigh Sale of Fintech Firm IntraFi

A potential deal exceeding $10 billion is on the table as Blackstone and Warburg Pincus explore offloading their stake in IntraFi. The private equity giants have enlisted Morgan Stanley and Guggenheim Securities to navigate a sale process for the Arlington-based financial technology firm, which remains in its early stages.

Blackstone and Warburg Pincus Weigh Sale of Fintech Firm IntraFi

IntraFi operates a massive reciprocal deposit network that enables banks to distribute customer funds across multiple institutions. This structure ensures federal deposit insurance for balances well above the standard $250,000 limit. Beyond insurance, the platform serves as a marketplace for liquidity, allowing banks to buy and sell deposits while IntraFi collects fees on the volume. The business currently generates approximately $630 million in annual EBITDA.

Market demand for such services spiked following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in 2023, as depositors grew increasingly cautious about fund security. Blackstone acquired the company—formerly known as Promontory Interfinancial Network—in 2019, with Warburg Pincus joining as an investor three years later. While the firms are testing the market, no final decision has been reached, and both could choose to retain the asset. The move reflects a broader trend among private equity firms looking to exit investments as dealmaking conditions show signs of recovery.
