Mt. Gox Extends Creditor Repayment Deadline to October 2027

Creditors awaiting compensation from the defunct exchange Mt. Gox face another year of waiting, as rehabilitation trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi has secured court approval to push the final repayment deadline to October 31, 2027. The delay marks the latest in a series of setbacks for those seeking assets lost since 2014.

Mt. Gox Extends Creditor Repayment Deadline to October 2027

The extension grants the rehabilitation team an additional 12 months to address ongoing administrative hurdles. While many eligible claimants who fulfilled necessary requirements have already received their Base, Early Lump-Sum, or Intermediate repayments, a significant number of individuals remain unpaid. According to the trustee, these outstanding cases stem from incomplete documentation or technical complications encountered during the distribution process.

Since the initiation of payouts in July 2024 through exchanges like Kraken and Bitstamp, the process has proven complex and prone to friction. The latest notice does not introduce new payment categories or adjust claim amounts, focusing instead on navigating the existing rehabilitation framework. Despite the shift in the final deadline, the trustee provided no specific schedule for individual distributions, nor did he disclose the current volume of remaining assets under his control. Claimants are directed to the official rehabilitation system for updates, though the trustee cautioned that high inquiry volumes may lead to prolonged response times.
