Cobo Wallet to Charge $100 Monthly Fees After December Shutdown

Cobo is shuttering its consumer wallet app on December 1, 2026, forcing remaining users to clear their balances or face steep monthly penalties. Starting in January 2027, accounts that fail to withdraw assets will be hit with a management fee of 2% of holdings, subject to a $100 minimum.

Cobo Wallet to Charge $100 Monthly Fees After December Shutdown

The company, which stopped accepting new consumer registrations in 2021 to pivot toward institutional services, set a hard deadline of midnight UTC+8 on December 1 for all asset transfers. Users are advised to purge saved wallet addresses from exchanges, mining pools, and other third-party platforms to prevent accidental deposits into the defunct service.

Failure to empty an account effectively signals agreement to the new fee structure. Deductions will occur on the first day of each month, with the first charges scheduled for January 1, 2027. For accounts with assets worth less than the $100 threshold, the company will seize the entire balance. Larger accounts will see 2% of their holdings deducted in the native cryptocurrency, calculated based on CoinMarketCap pricing at the time of the charge. The firm emphasized that it will not provide assisted withdrawal services or ask for user passwords during this transition period.
