The agreement focuses on boosting the cost competitiveness of the land bridge by refining cargo transfers at Caspian and Black Sea ports. By harmonizing tariff regimes and simplifying bureaucratic clearance, the participating countries hope to capture higher volumes of freight. The initiative marks a significant acceleration for a project that originated in 2019 but only gained genuine momentum in June 2025.
Beyond current infrastructure improvements, the coalition is exploring expansion. Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are actively negotiating with Romania to establish a supplemental transit path spanning the Black Sea. This effort aligns with broader goals to cement the corridor's reputation as a reliable alternative for transcontinental logistics.
