Interactive Brokers adds Ethereum staking to $900B platform

Interactive Brokers, managing over $903 billion in client assets, has launched Ethereum staking services for eligible customers. By partnering with infrastructure provider Zerohash, the brokerage now allows users to earn rewards on their crypto holdings directly through the company’s existing Client Portal alongside traditional stocks and futures.

The new service enables users to request staking or unstaking of Ethereum and monitor their activities via a dedicated dashboard. Earned rewards are automatically credited to the staked balance, allowing for potential compounding while the position remains active. CEO Milan Galik framed the move as an extension of the firm’s Stock Yield Enhancement Program, emphasizing a goal to help clients generate additional income from assets already under their management.

This expansion follows a series of crypto-focused updates at the Nasdaq-listed firm, which serves more than 5 million clients globally. IBKR previously introduced bidirectional stablecoin funding, wallet transfers for major assets like Bitcoin and Solana, and access to Coinbase Derivatives futures. The brokerage maintains support for 20 digital assets, including XRP, Chainlink, and Aave, while integrating diverse trading venues such as Kalshi and CME Group into its prediction market interface. Zerohash, the firm powering these staking capabilities, is currently seeking a national trust bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to bolster its regulatory standing.
