The Money wallet feature triggers automatically within the Telegram interface once a user receives a transfer, according to the latest announcement from developer Walt. This integration enables users to store GRAM, purchase digital collectibles, and send funds instantly without network fees. The market responded sharply to the news, pushing GRAM’s market capitalization to $4.12 billion, while 24-hour trading volume surged 41% to $132.4 million.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov originally proposed this self-custody model in July to bypass the need for third-party applications. By keeping custody in the hands of the user, the design allows for seamless interaction with Telegram Collectibles, including usernames and digital gifts. While the native Money wallet focuses on these core messaging-based transactions, the developer—formerly known as Wallet in Telegram—maintains a separate platform under the name Walt. This standalone service supports over 300 assets across four blockchains, catering to more complex trading needs such as perpetual futures, tokenized stocks, and Earn products. Despite the rebranding and the transition of Toncoin to GRAM on June 15, current wallet addresses and holdings remain intact, requiring no manual migration from users.
