Samsung Patents Smart Contract Wallet to Simplify Crypto Transactions

Samsung Electronics has filed for a U.S. patent detailing a digital asset wallet system that offloads transaction authentication to smart contracts. By shifting this process away from individual devices, the proposed architecture allows smartphones, wearables, and home appliances to initiate transfers without directly storing or handling private keys.

Samsung Patents Smart Contract Wallet to Simplify Crypto Transactions

The system, detailed in patent US 2026/0212355 published on July 23, aims to mitigate the security risks inherent in traditional self-custody wallets. Under this model, a device sends authentication data to a blockchain-based smart contract rather than signing transactions with a local key. If the contract verifies the device's assigned address and credentials, it processes the transfer autonomously. This design enables a multi-device ecosystem where computers, appliances, and phones can collectively manage a single wallet, facilitating address recovery or device registration across the user's hardware network.

While the patent marks a shift in how Samsung approaches blockchain integration, the company has not confirmed plans for commercial implementation or integration into the existing Samsung Wallet. This development follows a series of recent moves by the conglomerate to expand its digital asset footprint, including plans to introduce stablecoin support and investments in the South Korean exchange operator Dunamu. Despite these broader efforts, Samsung representatives have remained silent on whether this specific smart contract technology will reach consumer devices.
