Bitcoin Struggles Near $84,000 as Market Tests Key Overhead Supply

Bitcoin has pulled back toward $84,000 after hitting a session peak of $87,220, leaving traders to watch a critical concentration of overhead supply. Analysts at Bitfinex suggest that sustained market momentum now hinges on whether buying pressure can push the price decisively above the $86,500 threshold.

Bitcoin Struggles Near $84,000 as Market Tests Key Overhead Supply

The current price action places Bitcoin near the $84,012 Fibonacci level, following a 0.99% decline on the daily chart. Bitfinex analysts identify a substantial hurdle in the $84,000 to $86,500 range, where approximately 1.39 million BTC was purchased. For the market to regain a clear path toward the $87,722 yearly opening price, this supply must be absorbed and converted into profit through consistent demand.

Renewed interest in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs provided a glimmer of support, with $170.2 million in net inflows recorded on Oct. 1, reversing a period of volatility. Bitfinex monitors this via the Absorption-to-Emission Ratio, noting that purchases roughly five times the daily mining issuance are necessary to sustain a rally. Conversely, the firm warns that a drop below $81,300, coupled with declining ETF interest, would indicate a weakening market structure and potentially invite further downside risk.
