The launch arrives with significant institutional support from founding partners including Stripe, Mastercard, Visa, and Coinbase. Businesses can mint and burn OUSD at a one-to-one ratio with the U.S. dollar, with access routes provided by BVNK, Stripe, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform. Bridge Building Inc., a Stripe subsidiary, currently issues the token, while reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY. Monthly attestations will verify these holdings.
Chainlink’s integration enables OUSD to function within complex financial applications, including lending markets and automated market makers. Aave Labs has already proposed incorporating OUSD into Aave V3 and V4, though collateral use remains restricted pending further liquidity growth and production-ready oracle feeds. While Bridge holds preliminary conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank, the entity is not yet operational. Meanwhile, the project’s reward structure incentivizes partners like Stripe and Mastercard by linking equity potential to the supply and activity generated through their respective platforms.
