Under the new arrangement, OP Labs will handle the heavy lifting for Soneium’s network, including sequencer management, node infrastructure, and software upgrades. The service-level agreement mandates a 99.9% monthly uptime target, supported by 24/7 incident response protocols. This move allows the Soneium protocol team to focus exclusively on entertainment applications, specifically the development of tokenized IP.
Soneium’s head of protocol, Yuji Kumagai, emphasized that the team will continue to shape the network’s underlying technology despite the outsourcing of operational tasks. Jing Wang, CEO of OP Labs, noted that the partnership is designed to streamline development for teams already utilizing the OP Stack. Soneium, a layer-2 network co-developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs and Startale, has previously experimented with licensed anime collectibles, including a release based on “The Seven Deadly Sins.” The integration of OP Enterprise marks a strategic push to transition from simple digital collectibles to broader on-chain entertainment platforms.
