Bitwise Launches NEAR Spot ETF on NYSE Arca

The NRR fund holds the underlying NEAR tokens rather than utilizing derivatives, creating a direct link between investor demand and market supply. Because Bitwise intends to stake a significant portion of its holdings through its institutional operation, the product effectively removes a share of the token supply from immediate liquid circulation. Bitwise reported an annualized staking reward rate of approximately 5% as of late September, though this figure remains subject to market fluctuations and network risks including potential slashing.

The launch follows a notable pre-listing rally that saw the token price climb from $2.62 on September 16 to nearly $5.00. With a market capitalization of roughly $6.5 billion, NEAR has seen increased momentum tied to its development of "Intents" infrastructure, which aims to facilitate cross-chain transactions for autonomous AI agents. Bitwise noted that this protocol has processed over $32 billion in volume, positioning it as a core component of the network's growth strategy. While the ETF offers traditional brokerage access to the asset, actual market impact will depend on sustained capital inflows, as the initial price surge suggests much of the anticipation was already priced in before the fund began trading.
