Circle Co-founder Neville Departs Board as CFO Fox-Geen Plans Exit

Circle Internet Group faces a significant leadership shakeup as co-founder P. Sean Neville resigned from the board effective immediately, while Chief Financial Officer Jeremy Fox-Geen announced his intention to step down by the end of 2026. The company confirmed these departures were not triggered by operational or policy disputes.

Neville’s departure reduces the company’s board from eight directors to seven, a move characterized by the firm as part of an orderly refreshment process. Meanwhile, Fox-Geen will maintain his responsibilities through December 31, providing a runway for the company to secure his successor. Circle has already engaged an executive search firm to identify a replacement for the finance chief, who has been instrumental in the company’s expansion and its recent $1.2 billion initial public offering.

Under his post-termination agreement, Fox-Geen is set to receive $1.05 million in cash installments over one year, contingent on his compliance with restrictive covenants, including non-solicitation and non-competition clauses. Despite the company’s recent growth—including a $100 million investment from Binance and robust circulation figures for its USDC stablecoin—shares of Circle reacted to the news with a decline, trading near $87.37 in extended sessions following the announcement.
