Pi Network Prepares for Protocol 28 as Token Stagnates Below $0.10

Pi Network has shifted its focus to the upcoming Protocol 28 upgrade, setting an October 16 deadline for the Mainnet transition. While developers fine-tune the network’s transaction and smart contract infrastructure, the PI token remains trapped in a consolidation phase, struggling to break through the significant $0.10 resistance level.

Node operators are under a strict timeline to complete software updates by October 13, ensuring the network is prepared for the transition three days later. This latest iteration follows the successful deployment of Protocol 27, which introduced more flexible authentication for smart contracts. The new update aims to improve how the network processes transaction data delays and provides developers with enhanced tools to modify stored data and manage smart contract groups efficiently.

Market performance for PI has remained muted. Trading near $0.0893, the token is currently confined to a range between $0.08 and $0.10 that has persisted since July. Technical indicators suggest a lack of clear momentum; the Relative Strength Index sits at 47.99, while the Aroon Oscillator at -14.29 points to a lingering, albeit weak, bearish trend. With a market capitalization of approximately $1 billion and daily volume hovering around $6.4 million, the asset continues to trade well below its historical highs, leaving investors watching the $0.094 area as a primary hurdle before any potential retest of the $0.10 psychological ceiling.
