XRP Ledger Lending Proposals Face Validator Hurdles Amid Price Fluctuations

XRP retreated to $1.51 on September 23 after a brief climb above $1.65, leaving the $1.60 threshold as a critical resistance point. While market participants track the token's technical recovery, the XRP Ledger's proposed native lending system awaits the necessary 80% validator support to reach mainnet activation.

XRP Ledger Lending Proposals Face Validator Hurdles Amid Price Fluctuations

The proposed lending architecture, centered on amendments XLS-65 and XLS-66, seeks to integrate pooled vaults and fixed-term credit directly into the ledger without reliance on external smart contracts. XLS-65 would establish Single Asset Vaults for tokens like XRP or RLUSD, while XLS-66 would authorize loan brokers to manage credit terms and defaults. Crucially, the protocol shifts borrower vetting and risk management to the operating firms rather than the ledger itself, meaning depositors remain exposed to potential repayment failures.

Despite the software capabilities introduced in the 3.4.0 release, these features remain dormant on the mainnet. Activation requires sustained consensus from over 80% of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks, a milestone that has yet to be reached. Market analysts note that while a successful launch could incentivize greater network utility, the impact on XRP demand depends on whether firms utilize the native token or stablecoins like RLUSD for liquidity pools. Currently, the technical outlook remains cautious; the 20-day Chaikin Money Flow sits at -0.09, suggesting that recent price volatility lacks strong underlying buying pressure. XRP holds support near its 20-day moving average of $1.40, but reclaiming the $1.60 level is essential to challenge recent highs near $1.70.
