LayerZero and Anchorage Digital Partner to Standardize Bank Stablecoins

Anchorage Digital has tapped LayerZero as its preferred interoperability layer for federally chartered stablecoin issuance, signaling a shift toward institutional-grade infrastructure. The move aims to satisfy strict regulatory and reserve requirements, positioning LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard as the primary bridge for bank-backed digital assets across global blockchain networks.

The partnership focuses on the stablecoin platform at Anchorage Digital Bank, which currently manages assets including Tether’s USAT, Western Union’s USDPT, OSL Group’s USDGO, and Falcon Finance’s fUSD. USAT is the first confirmed asset to integrate LayerZero’s OFT standard, which the company claims has processed $280 billion across 170 blockchains to date. By adopting this technology, Anchorage aims to bridge the gap between traditional banking compliance and the technical demands of cross-chain settlement.

For institutional players like corporate treasuries and payment providers, the selection of infrastructure is driven by the need for legal accountability. Under the GENIUS Act, which became law in July 2025, issuers must maintain 1:1 reserves and adhere to rigorous anti-money laundering and customer identification protocols. LayerZero argues that regulated issuance is not a limitation on utility but a necessary prerequisite for deep integration into global financial operations. While the partnership covers four major stablecoin brands, deployment timelines for assets beyond USAT remain pending as regulators continue to refine the implementation framework for the GENIUS Act.
