The migration marks a significant pivot for the protocol, which launched on Base in March 2025. While the team intends to transition entirely to Ethereum, current infrastructure remains on Base. Trueo has instructed users to avoid creating markets with expiration dates beyond January 31, 2027, on the current network. Existing markets will continue to function normally until their individual expiration, and trading, resolution, and redemptions remain active during the transition period.
Trueo’s governance and oracle token, TRUE, will migrate to Ethereum via an open-ended process, with future staking rewards and liquidity incentives slated for the new deployment. The team views Ethereum’s lower execution costs and neutral development environment as critical for scaling their non-custodial, Uniswap v4-integrated platform. Despite the announcement, official documentation still reflects Base-based contracts, and current TVL—tracked at approximately $796,126—remains entirely on the Layer 2 network.
Buterin’s support follows his recent critiques of the prediction market sector, which he previously argued had become overly fixated on short-term sports betting and price wagers. By positioning itself as a decentralized alternative, Trueo aims to align with Buterin’s vision for onchain governance and real-world risk management. The project is also developing a next-generation oracle system for Ethereum, intending to refine its optimistic resolution process and dispute mechanisms. No formal partnership exists between the Ethereum Foundation and the project, but the endorsement highlights a growing interest in Ethereum L1 as a home for specialized, high-integrity financial primitives.
