Robinhood deepens prediction market push with OG.com equity deal

The partnership, announced September 8, integrates OG.com’s derivatives exchange and clearinghouse into Robinhood’s existing network. Starting immediately, eligible U.S. customers will see football-related contracts appear in the app, with plans to expand into economic indicators, election outcomes, and cultural events. This move diversifies Robinhood’s provider base, which already includes Kalshi, ForecastEx, and Rothera.

For Robinhood, the deal secures a direct financial interest in the infrastructure powering its high-growth prediction business. JB Mackenzie, the firm's vice president of futures and prediction markets, noted that the collaboration strengthens their position as the sector sees rising consumer demand. The segment delivered a record $156 million in revenue during the second quarter, and analysts at Bernstein project this could grow to $586 million by 2026.

OG.com now operates as an independent entity following its separation from Crypto.com, focusing specifically on derivatives and prediction markets. While the platform operates under Commodity Futures Trading Commission oversight, the broader industry remains entangled in legal disputes. State attorneys general continue to challenge federal jurisdiction over sports-based contracts, arguing they function as gambling rather than financial derivatives. Consequently, contract availability on Robinhood remains subject to shifting state-level regulations despite federal approval.
