Fractal Bitcoin Halving Triggers Shift to Mainnet Emission Model

Fractal Bitcoin has officially reached block 2,100,000, triggering its first halving and the activation of the FIP-102 consensus upgrade. The network reduced its block reward to 6.25 FB while simultaneously reallocating an equal portion of its emission budget toward future distribution activities directly on the Bitcoin mainnet.

The transition marks a significant shift in the protocol’s economic structure. Under the new rules, the total supply of FB remains unchanged, maintaining the existing 1:1:1 distribution ratio across Merged Mining, Permissionless Mining, and Index Mining. While Fractal-side rewards have dropped to 6.25 FB, the project is banking on a progressive rollout to distribute the remaining 6.25 FB equivalent to users engaging with the Bitcoin mainnet.

This distribution strategy will be further defined by the upcoming FIP-103 proposal, which is expected to outline the technical architecture and specific user interactions required to earn these rewards. The team plans to begin testing these mechanisms in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a full deployment scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. By leveraging the SHA-256 algorithm and a unified supply model, Fractal aims to deepen its integration with Bitcoin's ecosystem, building on its existing infrastructure that already supports platforms like UniSat’s Hexa trading engine.
