Bybit Integrates Mesh to Streamline Direct Crypto Payments

Bybit has partnered with the infrastructure firm Mesh to allow its 80 million users to spend or transfer assets directly from their exchange accounts. By embedding Bybit Pay into the Mesh network, the integration eliminates the need for manual withdrawals or separate wallet transfers when making purchases on merchant platforms.

The collaboration connects Bybit to more than 300 wallets, exchanges, and financial applications already operating within the Mesh ecosystem. For customers, this means they can select Bybit Pay at checkout, authorizing transactions using funds stored in their exchange accounts without moving assets to an external wallet or converting them manually. Merchants integrated with Mesh can enable this payment method through their existing technical setup, effectively gaining access to the exchange’s user base as a new source of liquidity.

Mesh, which reached a $1 billion valuation following a $75 million funding round in January, provides the underlying tools for this connection. The platform manages the complexities of settlement, allowing businesses to configure how and when they receive funds across various markets. According to Bam Azizi, co-founder and CEO of Mesh, the goal is to bridge the gap between where money resides and where it is spent, reducing the friction typically associated with digital asset transactions.

While the integration expands Bybit’s utility, the scope of the service remains subject to regional restrictions. The announcement did not specify the list of supported cryptocurrencies or the geographic availability of the feature. Furthermore, U.S. users face unique regulatory hurdles, as the Internal Revenue Service classifies digital asset spending as a taxable disposal, requiring individuals to calculate capital gains or losses for every transaction. As reporting requirements for custodial platforms evolve, the operational convenience of direct exchange payments will remain balanced against these ongoing tax and compliance obligations.
