XRP Sparks Investor Curiosity at Bitwise Wealth Management Event

XRP generated more inquiries than any other cryptocurrency during a recent Bitwise presentation for roughly 400 wealth managers. While the engagement highlights a shift in professional curiosity, the data reflects event-specific sentiment rather than a broad institutional shift toward immediate portfolio allocations.

Bitwise research analyst Ryan Rasmussen noted that XRP dominated the Q&A sessions, signaling a distinct uptick in interest among attendees. Despite this curiosity, the gap between inquiry and investment remains significant. According to a poll conducted during the event, 67% of participants currently hold no cryptocurrency in client portfolios. While 60% of those surveyed expressed an intention to allocate to digital assets within the next year, these plans remain subject to rigorous compliance standards, risk limits, and shifting market volatility.

Institutional exposure is currently quantified through 13F filings, which provide a retrospective look at holdings. Goldman Sachs led the disclosed institutional interest in U.S. spot XRP ETFs with $87.4 million at the end of the second quarter, followed by Jane Street and Millennium Management. These figures, however, confirm the presence of regulated access routes rather than a uniform long-term investment thesis. The recent performance of these funds reflects this uneven landscape; after an 11-session inflow streak that pulled in roughly $170 million, the funds saw a $7.2 million outflow on September 2.

For wealth managers, the transition from interest to action involves navigating complex hurdles, including custody requirements and asset suitability. While spot ETFs simplify the technical process of gaining exposure, they do not insulate investors from the underlying price movements of the asset. Whether the current curiosity among managers translates into sustained capital inflows will be revealed in upcoming quarterly disclosures and fund performance data.
