Chainlink integrates US economic data across ten blockchain networks

The U.S. Department of Commerce is leveraging Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure to broadcast official macroeconomic statistics directly onto public ledgers. By automating the delivery of GDP, inflation, and private demand figures, the initiative allows decentralized applications to integrate government-verified data without manual intervention or third-party intermediaries.

The program provides six distinct data feeds covering real gross domestic product, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers. Each metric is delivered in two formats: the current level in billions of 2017 dollars and the quarter-over-quarter annualized percentage change. These feeds are now live on ten networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, and ZKsync.

While the arrangement gained renewed attention following a recent announcement, the collaboration originated in August 2025 alongside Pyth Network. The integration is designed to serve automated financial systems, such as inflation-linked assets, prediction markets, and risk-management protocols for decentralized finance. Because smart contracts cannot natively retrieve off-chain government data, the oracle acts as a bridge, ensuring that on-chain applications receive the same figures released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis on its standard publication schedule.

This deployment builds upon earlier efforts by the Commerce Department to enhance the transparency of economic data. In 2025, the agency published cryptographic hashes of its GDP reports to ensure document integrity. Secretary Howard Lutnick has framed these initiatives as a strategy to make American economic data globally accessible and immutable. To maintain security standards, Chainlink’s infrastructure holds ISO 27001 certification and SOC 2 Type 1 attestation, though the company emphasizes that these credentials do not mitigate the inherent risks associated with smart contract execution or market volatility.
