Mirae Asset Targets $108 Billion in Digital Assets by 2027

Mirae Asset Group is positioning its newly acquired crypto exchange, Digital X, as the cornerstone of a massive expansion into on-chain finance. Chairman Park Hyeon-joo announced a strategic pivot to reach 150 trillion won ($108 billion) in digital assets and achieve profitability within the next three years.

The initiative, dubbed Mirae Asset 3.0, seeks to leverage the group’s massive 1,500 trillion won client base to bridge traditional finance with blockchain ecosystems. During an employee event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on Aug. 26, Park outlined a four-pillar approach focusing on cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWA), and security token offerings. The group intends to digitize physical commodities, including gold and silver, while preparing for a broader shift toward blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Digital X, formerly known as Korbit, serves as the operational engine for this transformation following Mirae Asset’s 97.15% stake acquisition. While the South Korean regulatory environment for stablecoins and tokenized securities remains in flux, the group is aligning its development with the Financial Services Commission’s upcoming legal framework, expected to take effect in February 2027. Mirae Asset plans to utilize principal investments to catalyze these new services, urging staff to move beyond legacy financial models in favor of an integrated on-chain ecosystem.
