The integration allows users to transfer tokens between their Gemini accounts and external self-custody wallets or other compatible exchanges. While Gemini previously limited XRP activity to trading and internal storage, this update enables true blockchain portability for the asset. The exchange has not introduced new trading pairs or adjusted existing fee structures alongside the launch, and users are reminded to verify destination tags and network compatibility to prevent potential fund loss.
This move aligns with Gemini's broader consolidation strategy, which has pivoted the firm to focus heavily on the U.S. and Singapore while winding down operations in Europe and Australia. Although Gemini currently holds in-principle approval for a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, it continues to navigate the final regulatory requirements. By fostering deeper integration with the XRP ecosystem—which includes prior support for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and the inclusion of XRP in its derivatives cross-collateral pool—Gemini is signaling a long-term commitment to the asset class within its remaining core hubs.
