Flowra Launches Competitive Block-Building Auction for Solana

Solana validators are gaining a new mechanism to manage transaction inclusion and capture MEV revenue as Flowra rolls out its Open Orderflow Auction. The framework shifts block construction from closed, private channels toward a transparent bidding system, aiming to decentralize the network’s currently concentrated market for blockspace.

Flowra Launches Competitive Block-Building Auction for Solana

The new architecture invites registered searchers to compete openly for transaction inclusion, a model mirroring the proposer-builder separation common on Ethereum. By moving away from private orderflow, Flowra intends to improve price discovery and ensure validators secure a larger share of the value generated by MEV. Early testing on a single validator yielded a 20.6% increase in compute units per block, pushing performance to 101% of the network average while maintaining 99.999% block engine uptime.

Beyond the auction, the platform introduces a Programmable Block Policy feature. This allows validators to set custom inclusion rules directly at the block-building layer, facilitating compliance screening for sanctions or risk without requiring modifications to the core Solana protocol. Through a partnership with Honeypot, Flowra is integrating these screening tools to provide validators with auditability and control. CEO Harry Hwang noted that while Solana remains a high-throughput leader, the current concentration of its MEV market necessitates a more efficient, competitive approach to block construction.
