The new engine serves as a bridge for the growing Canton ecosystem, which currently processes over $9 trillion in tokenized real-world assets monthly. Designed to support financial institutions, the system facilitates the movement of capital across networks while maintaining the privacy and permissioning controls necessary for regulated transactions. FalconX, acting as the liquidity provider, ensures that trades are executed without Interstice Digital acting as an intermediary or custodian of assets.
According to Interstice Digital CEO Janine Yorio, the integration aims to link Canton with the liquidity pools of major public chains. This move complements Canton’s increasing role in institutional finance, where it is already utilized for tokenized U.S. Treasuries, stablecoin settlements, and collateral management. Recent activity on the network includes a proof-of-concept for Japanese government bond repo transactions by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and a real-time Treasury trade executed by Tradeweb. With institutional backing from firms like a16z Crypto and Coinbase Ventures, the infrastructure is positioned to support the expanding demand for inter-chain capital mobility.
