Circle’s EURC Stablecoin Surpasses €400 Million in Circulation

The supply of Circle’s euro-backed stablecoin, EURC, has more than doubled over the past year to exceed €400 million. This growth marks a shift in the digital asset landscape, as institutional platforms and payment networks increasingly adopt the token for treasury operations and cross-border settlement within the European Union.

Circle’s EURC Stablecoin Surpasses €400 Million in Circulation

Circle’s EURC, which launched on Ethereum in 2022, has expanded its reach across Avalanche, Stellar, Solana, and Base. As of August 13, 2026, circulation hit €402.4 million, a significant climb from the €80 million recorded at the end of 2024. This liquidity surge coincides with broader institutional support from providers like Fireblocks, Copper, and Cobo, alongside integrations by major exchanges including Kraken, Coinbase, and Bitstamp.

Regulatory compliance remains central to this growth. Operating under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, Circle issues the token via its licensed electronic money institution in France. This framework has allowed the firm to align with established financial venues, such as the integration with Deutsche Börse’s digital exchange, 3DX. While dollar-pegged tokens still dominate the global market, euro-denominated stablecoins reached an aggregate supply of approximately €650 million by June 2026. As competition intensifies—with banking consortiums like Qivalis developing their own alternatives—Circle continues to lobby for policy adjustments to reduce settlement barriers and further integrate digital assets into the broader €16 trillion euro-area money supply.
