The celestial event presents a broader challenge across Europe, where grid managers are preparing for a synchronized decline in solar output. While the UK will experience a partial eclipse—with up to 95% of the sun obscured in Cornwall and 90% in London—the timing coincides with a regional heatwave that has already driven power consumption to elevated levels. This confluence of high demand and reduced solar input marks the first such total eclipse event in three decades for parts of the continent.
