Bitget Overhauls BGBTC with Daily Yield and Chainlink Integration

Bitget has introduced a major upgrade to its BGBTC asset, pivoting from a static Bitcoin-backed token to a yield-bearing instrument. The platform now offers daily rewards denominated in BTC, alongside cross-chain capabilities via Chainlink’s CCIP and independent risk oversight provided by the quantitative firm Gauntlet.

Bitget Overhauls BGBTC with Daily Yield and Chainlink Integration

The exchange aims to provide an alternative for investors who prefer to avoid the complexities of manual yield farming or moving assets between disparate protocols. By maintaining a 1:1 peg with Bitcoin, BGBTC allows holders to retain exposure to the underlying asset while utilizing it as collateral for futures margin, lending, or participation in the platform’s Launchpool and PoolX products. The upgrade also promises faster, large-volume redemptions, though specific performance metrics remain undisclosed.

To facilitate broader utility, Bitget has tapped Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to serve as the canonical infrastructure for moving BGBTC across different blockchain networks. This integration complements the existing use of Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve, which provides on-chain verification of the collateral backing the issued token supply. While the reserve system confirms the assets exist, CCIP enables the messaging layer required for decentralized application access.

Gauntlet will act as the independent curator for the yield-generating strategies, monitoring the portfolio to manage risk and oversee capital deployment. Despite this added layer of oversight, Bitget notes that rewards are tied to market conditions and the performance of underlying protocols. The company has yet to provide a fixed annual yield percentage or a definitive timeline for the rollout across additional networks, leaving prospective users to weigh potential returns against platform, custody, and smart-contract risks.
