ADNOC Logistics and Services acquired the fleet from Frontline Plc, adding vessels each capable of hauling 2 million barrels of oil. This expansion arrives at a critical juncture: the UAE produced 4.1 million barrels per day in June, an all-time high that nearly doubles output figures recorded when the Hormuz crisis first throttled regional supply chains in March 2026. By securing these assets, the company aims to fortify its logistics network against the volatility of the Strait of Hormuz, where traffic remains heavily disrupted.
Beyond tanker acquisitions, the UAE has pivoted toward offshore loading hubs in Fujairah and Sohar to circumvent traditional chokepoints. This logistics push extends to the gas sector as well, with ADNOC recently committing $900 million to build four new LNG carriers. While the company maintains that it does not comment on market speculation, its current fleet of over 340 owned vessels and 600 chartered ships is undergoing a rapid, high-stakes modernization to sustain the country’s aggressive export growth.
