Binance Expands Into Precious Metals With New Commodity Options

Binance has launched U.S. dollar-denominated options for gold and silver, marking a significant expansion of its TradFi product suite. The exchange is now offering USDT-settled, European-style contracts, allowing users to trade precious metals with the same infrastructure previously reserved for its digital asset offerings.

These commodity options are designed to facilitate directional trading, volatility bets, and hedging strategies directly from existing Binance accounts. According to the exchange, the decision to launch follows substantial interest in its gold and silver perpetual contracts, which have previously recorded daily volumes exceeding $7 billion. Unlike traditional holdings, these options feature defined risk profiles where the maximum loss is limited to the premium paid, and they eliminate liquidation risks for long positions.

The new contracts operate on a schedule aligned with underlying asset markets, trading from Sunday 6:00 PM to Friday 5:00 PM ET. This move places Binance in direct competition with traditional derivatives giants like CME Group, which has also been pivoting to accommodate retail interest. CME recently reported record-breaking volume in its own one-ounce gold futures, citing a 55% year-over-year increase in daily contract activity during the first half of 2026.
