ADNOC Expands Crude Export Reach Amid Regional Maritime Tensions

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has launched its seventh crude tender since June, signaling a push to move millions of barrels between August and October. The company is actively bypassing traditional chokepoints, utilizing a complex logistics strategy to maintain flow despite escalating maritime risks in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

ADNOC Expands Crude Export Reach Amid Regional Maritime Tensions

The state-backed producer is inviting bids for shipments loading from UAE ports Zirku and Das Island, as well as Fujairah, which sits outside the Persian Gulf. To mitigate regional instability, ADNOC is facilitating transfers offshore Fujairah and Malaysia, effectively creating a shuttle network to bypass volatile shipping lanes. Since June, the company has offloaded more than 74 million barrels through similar tender processes.

Market participants note that ADNOC is hardening its pricing strategy, with sources indicating the firm will automatically reject bids submitted at a discounted differential. This aggressive posture follows a surge in UAE output, which hit a record 4.1 million barrels per day in June after the country moved to increase production independently. To sustain these volumes, the UAE has increasingly relied on "dark" tanker maneuvers and alternative loading hubs in Oman to navigate the security threats currently disrupting global oil transit.
