Payward Taps GTN to Take Tokenized xStocks Global

With over $37 billion in transaction volume already processed, Payward is moving its xStocks platform beyond U.S. borders. By partnering with fintech provider GTN, the Kraken parent aims to tokenize equities across more than 90 international markets, starting with assets listed in Hong Kong to challenge traditional financial fragmentation.

The collaboration leverages GTN’s established infrastructure for execution, custody, and record-keeping, allowing Payward to bypass the need to build bespoke legacy systems for every new jurisdiction. While the platform currently supports more than 500 tokenized assets—ranging from ETFs to IPO-related products—the expansion strategy targets the UK, Europe, and South Korea as secondary phases. Access for institutional clients remains contingent on securing necessary local regulatory licenses in each territory.

Mark Greenberg, Global Head of Payward Services, noted that the move addresses the long-standing inefficiency of capital markets being siloed by currency and geography. By utilizing GTN’s sub-accounting systems, Payward intends to integrate these tokenized assets into the existing ecosystem of over 100 exchanges and decentralized finance applications. This push into international waters follows Payward’s acquisition of Backed Finance earlier this year, signaling a broader intent to solidify its position as competition in the tokenized securities space intensifies among firms like Ondo and Coinbase.
