BscScan maintenance forces users to alternative data providers

BNB Chain users face a temporary loss of visibility into on-chain activity as BscScan, the network’s primary block explorer, undergoes scheduled maintenance. Starting July 22 at 6:00 a.m. UTC, the three-to-four-hour service window affects website and API access, though the underlying blockchain remains fully operational and continues processing transactions as usual.

The maintenance impacts only the interface layer, meaning that while users may struggle to verify transfers or inspect smart contracts via BscScan, the BNB Smart Chain network itself remains unaffected. Transactions continue to be confirmed and blocks are produced without interruption. To maintain access to data, the network has pointed users toward alternatives like BSCTrace and OKLink, which function independently to index and display network activity.

For developers, the disruption poses a more significant challenge. Applications relying on BscScan APIs to fetch balances or transaction histories may experience errors or delayed updates. The current downtime serves as a practical reminder of the risks associated with single-source data dependency. To mitigate future issues, developers are encouraged to integrate direct RPC connections or redundant data providers. Regardless of the tool chosen to monitor the chain, users should maintain rigorous security practices, such as verifying full wallet addresses, to avoid the risks posed by address-poisoning tactics often seen across various explorer platforms.
