Digital Asset Secures $10 Million From Shinhan and SC Ventures

Digital Asset has bolstered its Canton blockchain network with a $10 million injection from Shinhan Financial Group and Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures. This fresh capital pushes the firm’s total funding round to $365 million, maintaining the $2 billion equity valuation established during its initial raise last month.

The addition of these two global financial institutions broadens Digital Asset’s reach across Asian markets and strengthens its position in the regulated finance sector. Shinhan Financial Group, South Korea’s largest banking group, joins the ecosystem following separate agreements between its affiliates and the Canton Foundation to explore tokenized assets and regional regulatory frameworks. Meanwhile, SC Ventures, the innovation arm of Standard Chartered, brings significant expertise in digital asset infrastructure to the partnership.

Yuval Rooz, co-founder and CEO of Digital Asset, noted that the move signals a shift for institutions transitioning from experimental blockchain pilots to active production environments. The capital is earmarked for expanding the Canton ecosystem, increasing developer engagement, and refining the network’s capacity for onchain financial workflows. By prioritizing privacy and compliance, the platform aims to facilitate settlement and collateral mobility for traditional banks without compromising sensitive transaction data. This institutional momentum follows recent milestones for the network, including a listing on the Bithumb exchange and a proposal by Grayscale Investments for a spot Canton Coin ETF.
