Bitget Clarifies Unregulated Status in Singapore Market

Crypto exchange Bitget has formally confirmed it holds no license, registration, or authorization from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The move follows the regulator’s inclusion of the platform on its Investor Alert List, a measure designed to flag entities that could be mistaken for locally regulated digital asset service providers.

Bitget Clarifies Unregulated Status in Singapore Market

The exchange explicitly stated that it does not target Singapore residents and maintains the country as a restricted jurisdiction under its terms of use. While the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has added the platform to its alert list, this designation acts as an information tool for the public rather than a formal finding of misconduct. Bitget’s clarification emphasizes that the company is neither supervised nor approved by the local regulator.

Singapore has significantly tightened its oversight of digital assets, implementing a strict licensing framework that took effect in June 2025. This regulatory environment has prompted several firms to reorganize their local operations, with some entities shifting staff to jurisdictions such as Dubai or Hong Kong. While Bitget maintains a clear boundary in Singapore, the company is concurrently pursuing growth elsewhere. It has filed an application for authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) in Austria, which remains under review by local authorities.

CEO Gracy Chen noted that the exchange remains committed to navigating diverse regulatory landscapes globally. Despite its international product expansion—including the recent launch of tokenized financial assets—Bitget maintains that its licensing status is strictly jurisdiction-specific. The current notice serves as a definitive stance for the Singapore market, ensuring that the company’s global growth strategy remains distinct from its lack of local authorization.
