CoinShares Targets Institutional Capital with New European UCITS Platform

By launching a regulated Bitcoin mining ETF on Deutsche Börse Xetra, CoinShares has officially entered Europe’s €26.3 trillion UCITS market. The move bypasses the rigid internal mandates that have long prevented pension funds, insurers, and private banks from accessing digital asset strategies through traditional investment channels.

CoinShares Targets Institutional Capital with New European UCITS Platform

For CoinShares, the transition to the UCITS framework is a strategic play to remove the structural barriers that previously prohibited institutional exposure to crypto-related products. Many institutional mandates explicitly forbid debt securities or physical digital asset ETPs, creating a gap between investor interest and actionable capital. By standardizing its offerings under the UCITS umbrella, the firm allows these entities to allocate capital within the parameters of their existing compliance rules.

"This is not simply the launch of another investment product," said Jean-Marie Mognetti, CoinShares CEO. "It marks our entry into the UCITS market with a platform that allows us to develop and launch regulated investment funds under one of the world’s most widely recognized frameworks." The company intends to leverage this platform to scale its presence across Europe, with plans to introduce additional thematic strategies. This expansion follows a year of financial growth for the firm, which reported over $165.7 million in revenue for 2025.
