ADI Chain and Tangem Launch Hardware Wallet in UAE Virgin Megastores

Shoppers at Virgin Megastores across the UAE can now purchase a co-branded Tangem hardware wallet, marking a shift toward bringing offline cryptocurrency self-custody into mainstream retail environments. The partnership allows users to manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and ADI Chain ecosystem tokens through a contactless card designed for secure, physical transaction authorization.

The new product simplifies the entry point for retail investors by moving hardware wallets from specialized online crypto platforms to physical store shelves. Each card functions by storing private keys within a secure, embedded chip, requiring a physical tap against an NFC-enabled smartphone to authorize transactions via the Tangem app. This setup ensures that assets remain offline, keeping keys off mobile devices and external servers.

For ADI Chain, the rollout serves as a strategic move to push its ecosystem into the hands of everyday consumers. Ivan Branitskiy, Head of DeFi at the ADI Foundation, noted that the collaboration bridges institutional-grade security with accessible distribution. By leveraging the visibility of Virgin Megastores, the project aims to demystify self-custody for users who might otherwise avoid technical crypto hardware.

This UAE expansion follows Tangem’s broader retail strategy, which recently saw the Swiss manufacturer enter over 200 Best Buy locations in the United States. With more than six million devices shipped since 2017, the company is betting that physical availability is the key to mainstream adoption. Beyond storage, the integrated mobile app continues to evolve, recently adding features like Aave-powered yield generation, which allows users to earn interest on stablecoins directly from their wallets.
