Morpho principal engineer Julien confirmed the restoration of services after identifying a potential issue with Amazon Web Services (AWS) CloudFront, a content delivery network frequently used to host web applications. Although the team linked the downtime to AWS infrastructure, the protocol did not issue a final root cause analysis. The event also impacted the website for the project YEET, which noted that its own platform went offline during the same window.
This incident highlights a persistent vulnerability in decentralized finance: the reliance on centralized web layers for user interfaces. Even when a blockchain protocol remains secure and operational, a failure in a content delivery network can prevent users from viewing positions or interacting with their assets via standard web browsers. Despite the interface disruption, there were no reported losses of user funds.
Morpho’s infrastructure has become increasingly critical to the broader ecosystem, powering lending products for entities like Coinbase and hardware wallet provider Trezor. The protocol has also secured high-profile institutional interest, including an agreement with Apollo Global Management involving up to 90 million MORPHO tokens. Following the recovery, engineers warned that users might experience lingering performance fluctuations as the system stabilizes.
